Privacy statement

The Transpose extension doesn't require any browser permission by default, it works just out of the box for Youtube. However, for embedded Youtube videos, or dynamic sites like Spotify access is needed in order to connect to the html media element. In case no media element can be found, tab capture (pitch only) can be used as a last resort. In that case tab capture permission are necessary to capture the audio for pitch shift processing and connect to the video players on websites. This only happens when you launch the extension. No worries, we don't collect your data, browser history or audio and all your data is kept locally.
The extension keeps track of a history list which is stored in your Google Account and is only accessible by you.

The extension complies to the Google Developer Program Policies and Chrome Web Store Terms of Service.

Can you sign a privacy agreement for use within our organisation?

The extension and this website have Google Analytics implemented.
The tracking information is meant for global aggregated usage and issue identification. No personally identifying data is being used. The extension does not send browser history or urls to Google Analytics. All activitiy falls within bounds of the Google Analytics Terms of Service.

Browser Permissions

The following browser permissions are used by this extension:

ActiveTab

This permission is needed to communicate to the current tab to connect to the video on the site, control pause, start, loop and get the current position and duration of the video.

Tabs

This permission is needed to intercept the url of the tab when processing. The url may change (even when not currently the active tab) which will (re)set the settings of the extension for this tab. When there are multiple windows opened, one window has the extension opened and an another browser window is activated it is needed communicate to the correct (inactive) tab when the user clicks on a button in the extension.

Storage

The storage is only accessible by the user and used to store and display a list of the recent processed video's. The url, title and extension settings for the video are stored. It only stores data when the extension gets activated.

TabCapture (optional)

This permission is needed to capture the audio of the tab. The audio is processed for pitch shifting.

While Transpose uses a sophisticated algorithm processing the audio compared to the free version, it still runs in the browser, and is not a studio grade solution for pitch shifting.
